Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Scientist to join our dynamic team of security experts and engineers. As the Lead Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in identifying security risks through advanced data analytics techniques. Your expertise will drive the optimization of data processing and transformation pipelines, ensuring the extraction of valuable insights. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from proposing innovative research ideas to deploying and maintaining high-performing machine learning models for real-world applications. This senior-level position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and possess excellent communication skills to mentor and elevate the entire engineering organization in data science principles. You will work beside the Threat Detection team adopting complex use cases into verifiable, production ready models to surface malicious activity across our customer’s SaaS integrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including seasoned security researchers and engineers, to leverage data analytics for identifying and mitigating security risks.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data processing and transformation pipelines to optimize data for enhanced insights and analysis.
  • Engage in cutting-edge research by proposing novel ideas, conducting literature reviews, prototyping algorithms, performing tests, and documenting research findings.
  • Take ownership of deploying efficient machine learning models and algorithms into real-world environments, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance the performance of models in production, making necessary improvements and adjustments as required.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance, sharing best practices, technical expertise, and fostering professional growth across the engineering organization.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the organization, offering insights into advanced data science techniques and their application to security challenges.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define project goals, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in data science, machine learning, and security domains.

You Have

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master's) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years leading data science initiatives, including hands-on experience with research, algorithm development, and model deployment.
  • Expertise in data processing, transformation, and analysis, utilizing tools such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
  • Strong background in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience with security analytics, anomaly detection, or threat identification is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in developing and deploying machine learning models using libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, drive projects to completion, and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading a team of data scientists is a plus.
  • A portfolio of previous research projects, publications, or contributions to open-source data science projects is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies is beneficial.
