Principal Architect Opportunity

Looking for a senior person that likes to design and build complex, data driven applications. Can work across teams helping folks make good architectural choices - particularly as it applies to database structure. Also can take ownership of key components and rapidly code POC’s or stub outs that are handed off to others.

Individual contributor reporting to CTO. Needs maturity and strong communication skills required to influence teams in a constructive, non threatening way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee application design - both front and backend
  • Accelerate development speed by creating scalable POC’s
  • Establish coding standards
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect company assets and customer data.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential issues.
  • Help elevate team’s proficiency with coaching and tips
  • Develop and communicate the technical vision and strategy for the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and make recommendations for adoption.
  • Work closely with the CTO and VPoE to implement the technical strategy.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of engineering experience
  • Passionate about technology - loves to code
  • Deep experience with data pipelines (ETL/ELT, Spark, dbt, Airflow, Databricks, etc.)
  • Deep experience with OLTP database design, build, run (SQL, normalization, query optimization, Databricks, etc.)
  • Deep experience with OLAP database design, build, run (Star / Snowflake, Fact / Dim, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Deep experience with distributed application design, build, run (api, queues, idempotent, encapsulated, etc.)
  • Experienced with cloud infrastructure (infra as code, cdk, Terraform, Kubernetes, containers & images,
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

Experience in fast paced, startup environments. Understands what it takes for a team to win in competitive environments and relishes the challenge.
