Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing and optimizing existing facility infrastructure.

Join Locus Robotics as a Mechanical Engineering Intern and gain hands-on experience at the forefront of robotics and warehouse automation. Work on designing, prototyping, and testing components for cutting-edge autonomous mobile robots, collaborating with a dynamic team. At Locus, you'll work in an exciting, fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact real-world solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, model and detail draft elements of an autonomous mobile robot & supporting accessories using SolidWorks.
  • Build prototype and pre-production robots and subassemblies.
  • Test prototype and pre-production robots and subassemblies.
  • Aid in developing test plans for validation of designs.
  • Evaluate designs for strength and stiffness using hand calculations, FEA or other methods.
  • Design components and systems that reduce assembly effort; work with the operations team to verify these approaches and incorporate their feedback.
  • Accurately document work and present to peers, customers and leadership through design reviews.
  • Proactively engage with suppliers to determine competitive manufacturing strategies for new and existing designs.

Qualifications:

  • Rising Junior or Senior enrolled in Bachelors, or Masters Mechanical Engineering Degree program.
  • Academic experience in robotics or mechanical / electromechanical design.
  • Prior design practices for custom machined parts, sheet metal, castings and thermoplastic components.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communications skills and be able to communicate across all levels of the organization.
