We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated student to join Locus Robotics as Software Engineering Intern, contributing to the development of algorithms for robot coordination and behaviors as part of our Robotics Software group. This exciting summer 2025 internship program offers an opportunity to work hands-on with our Robotics Software team, contributing to the development and optimization of algorithms and systems for robot coordination, interaction, and behavioral dynamics in a multi-robot fleet environment. As an intern, you will gain invaluable experience designing innovative solutions for managing the interactions of a fleet of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in real-world settings, working at a fast-growing company revolutionizing logistics through robotics.

This summer 2025 internship offers flexibility, with remote, onsite, or hybrid options at our Wilmington, MA office. Candidates across the US are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to design, develop, and maintain software components enabling robot coordination and behavior management.
  • Contribute to solutions for challenges in robot-to-robot and robot-to-environment interactions in dynamic and complex indoor spaces.
  • Assist in creating scalable approaches for distributed decision-making and behavior optimization across a large robot fleet.
  • Analyze and fine-tune robot behaviors to enhance system efficiency, safety, and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of sophomore year of college in a related degree program.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
  • Preferred degrees: Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience working with C++ or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Prior experience working on projects involving robot collaboration, behavior modeling, or decision-making systems in robotics competitions, coursework, or research.
  • Proficiency in working in a Linux development environment.
  • Experience with debugging and profiling applications/algorithms.
  • Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System), multi-agent systems, or behavior-driven development is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
