We are now hiring a Staff Quality Engineer to join our team!
About the role
Matillion is built around small development teams with responsibility for specific themes and initiatives. Each team is a mix of engineers with various levels of skills and experience. The Staff Quality Engineer role assumes a senior position within the team, providing advanced technical guidance and extensive experience in embedding quality checks across the entire development lifecycle of software tools and applications. The primary objective is to optimise service delivery by ensuring efficiency, control, and high quality at every stage.
We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion, therefore this role follows our hybrid work structure where Matillioners work 2 days a week in our Madrid office. Our core day is Wednesday, and the second day will be determined together. The rest of the week you are welcome to work from the office, or remotely if you’d prefer.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and oversee the testing of software for Matillion Products, utilising deep hands-on experience to guide and mentor team members.
- Lead the design and implementation of robust quality frameworks across teams, ensuring streamlined and effective quality assurance processes for all services and products.
- Drive the adoption and advocacy of shift-left testing methodologies, spearheading an automation-first approach to testing within the team and across Matillion.
- Leverage a comprehensive toolkit of testing tools, including automation, contract, security, accessibility, and performance/scalability tools, while continuously advancing skills in automation.
- Take a leadership role within cross-functional teams, developing a culture of quality excellence and collaborating extensively to elevate the quality standards for the entire Matillion engineering team.
- Maintain a relentless customer focus, continuously seeking insights into customer usage patterns and feedback to inform testing strategies and priorities.
- Lead efforts to identify areas for enhancement within the overall quality journey, driving iterative improvements and innovations.
What we are looking for
- Strong knowledge of the development and maintenance of efficient and effective test automation tooling across the team's applications and services, encompassing contract, integration, accessibility, performance, and security testing.
- Demonstrate proficiency in coding in Java/JavaScript, enabling effective navigation of the codebase and implementation of quality frameworks like Cypress and Pact.
- Demonstrate inquisitiveness, probing into underlying technologies to guide optimal solutions.
- Exercise autonomy, adept at independently tackling tasks and problem-solving while also effectively collaborating with others.
- Excel in problem-solving, identifying issues and actively seeking innovative solutions.
At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated compensation range for this position is €62,000 - €93,000 but the final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
