The Opportunity

Root is seeking a Corporate FP&A Analyst/Sr.Analyst who is a strategic and creative problem solver ready to roll up their sleeves and work with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders. In this role, you will support our business partners’ financial planning, reporting, and analysis relationships by driving consistency and optimization. In this role you will act as an integrated business partner who will serve as a crucial part in establishing best practices around financial modeling, budget development and management, in-depth ad hoc analysis, and strategic capital deployment. This individual contributor should be a highly analytical, tech savvy, and strategic advisor, who will bring their data driven recommendations and insights, financial knowledge to our growing team. The perfect candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally with business teams to guide and support our business partners throughout the financial planning, reporting, and analysis lifecycle.

Compensation: $104,640 to $130,800 (Bonus and LTI Eligible)

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Maintain working knowledge of Root financial systems, models, policies, and processes. Assess actual results, perform quantitative analysis and backtesting of forecasts. Support automation efforts to leverage technology and improve model accuracy and efficiency.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders in the execution of annual business planning and quarterly forecasting processes. Collect, consolidate, analyze, and perform financial modeling to support planning and forecast cycles. Provide insights from business partners and involved stakeholders.

  • Assist in delivering comprehensive P&L reporting (including all three financial statements) with both long and short-term forward looking guidance to the investor relations team, senior management, finance leadership, and the board of directors.

  • Perform data driven variance and trend analysis for core KPIs using actual and forecasted data. Partner with other teams to perform root-cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements. Support the monthly capital contribution process to ensure our regulated entities are appropriately capitalized.

  • Support continuous improvement opportunities throughout the financial planning, reporting, and analysis lifecycle and processes.

  • Perform other ad hoc analysis as needed in support of strategic initiatives.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields is preferred.

  • 3+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related fields. Experience in the Insurance industry is preferred.

  • Extensive experience working with sophisticated financial models, in Excel or other planning applications (Anaplan, WorkDay, Oracle, etc.) is preferred.

  • Experience writing SQL queries and an understanding of data warehouse structures is preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal required.

  • Approaches problem solving with natural curiosity, open-mindedness, and comfort with ambiguity.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, prioritizing, and executing on the most critical project.
