About Vantage

Vantage is a cloud cost visibility and optimization platform, alternatively known as a FinOps platform. We help companies of all sizes manage their cloud infrastructure costs: everything from individual developers all the way up to multiple Fortune 500 customers. Our co-founders are industry veterans who have been former infrastructure engineers and product managers at DigitalOcean and AWS. The company is an efficient and hard working team of ~30 employees across the US with a New York City center of gravity. As we transition to the growth phase of the business, it’s likely our team size will at least double into 2024.

Our current customers include Square, Aflac, Rippling, Compass, Barstool Sports, PBS, Planetscale, and Starburst.

Vantage has raised $25M in total venture capital, most recently a $21M Series A financing round in March of 2023. About the Role

As our VP of People, you’ll play a critical role in keeping Vantage’s people programs and processes on track, evolving, and thriving. You will partner closely with the CEO, CTO, and org leaders providing solutions to employee-related matters, while maintaining a balance between being a business partner and an employee champion.

In your role, you will be exposed to, and have the ability to impact, the employee life-cycle, shaping the employee experience by executing, administering, and building thoughtful, business critical and people-focused programs. You will partner with stakeholders to develop new solutions to existing People challenges and opportunities.

You will be entrusted to drive change across a rapidly-growing and diverse organization. You should be able to navigate through ambiguity and recognize when it is appropriate to introduce more structure and process without derailing current business practices. Ultimately, you will play a critical role in executing the people strategy, driving business results, and creating an amazing people experience for all Vantage employees.

This role being requires being based in our NYC office

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in developing and implementing People Team initiatives that focus on employee retention, engagement, development, recognition, compensation, company values, and talent management.

  • Educate and partner with the team on critical employee journey touch points including but not limited to — compensation practices, performance management and calibration, promotions, onboarding and training, and offboarding.

  • Provide general HR expertise and implement best practices to support the growth and maintenance of Vantage.

  • The team will come to you as their first point of contact for all things HR. You'll be responsible for managing and resolving complex employee relations issues that arise with necessary personnel.

  • Improve on and/or build out and operationalize People Ops processes and workflows (e.g. employee terminations, internal transfers, etc.)

  • Drive knowledge management and communication efforts to support People Operations programs and policies adoption and engagement among managers and employees

  • Execute on ad hoc projects that support broader People Ops objectives and strategy

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 10 years of broad HR experience having scaled fast-paced, startup environments from early stages

  • Partnered closely with business leaders to build and support high-performing teams across multiple functions, and provide expertise in several of the following areas: Organizational Design, Diversity and Inclusion, Employee Onboarding, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, Career Planning, Employee Engagement, Employee Relations, and Learning and Development

  • Have experience owning several people-related programs at once in a dynamic environment. You’re comfortable working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, taking initiative to move projects forward and deliver results on time

  • Enjoy actively listening to and communicating with people to understand their needs and gain their trust. You have experience drafting clear communications that demonstrate discretion, good judgment, and attention to detail

  • Have a track record of personal accountability, and a high standard of integrity and professionalism. You’ve demonstrated resilience and a desire to succeed in the face of new and/or unforeseen challenges

  • Independently recognize and create opportunities for process/program improvement and have a track record of improving/streamlining when appropriate

  • Apply learnings from previous experiences to future opportunities

  • Desire to work onsite in our SoHo office multiple days a week

Pay & Benefits

The estimated annual US base salary range for this role is $165,000 - $225,000 This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and education stipends.
